For our team, it’s not only about creating the most elegant, intuitive, accessible and powerful peer-to-peer platform in Australia, but to ensure we are building an efficient and lean model that maximises choice and control for both Australians living with disability and their support workers. We’re an enthusiastic and diverse team of product developers united by our desire to improve the lives of people with disability. As we continue to grow rapidly, we’re on the lookout for passionate and motivated Full Stack Software Engineers that want to be part of our purpose lead team.

The role 

  • Partner cross-functionally with other parts of the business including our Community Support, finance and strategy teams as we build products that truly support the diverse needs of our community
  • Implement intuitive and accessible user interfaces
  • Contribute to and grow our development capabilities through mentoring and supporting other engineers in the team
  • Share your knowledge and ideas to help build a culture of innovation and technical excellence
  • Contribute to our front-end replatforming efforts as we migrate from a legacy Angular.js 1.6 app to a modern and highly accessible Vue.js micro-frontend based app
  • Iterate and evolve our monolithic Node.js core back-end APIs to support new functionality and improve the architecture allowing for easier iteration by multiple teams

As with any fast growing company, your priorities may evolve over time as we continue to scale. Starting in this role, we’d love for you to focus on the above areas however we’d also love you to utilise your skills, experiences and knowledge to help us shape the future of this role over time. 

The person: 

You…

  • Are passionate about building great digital products for the web
  • Care about quality, maintainability and the craft of software development
  • Think and operate in terms of what's best for your end users and strive to balance technical priorities with pace of delivery 
  • Have excellent communication skills and are experienced in partnering with other engineers, Product Managers and designers
  • Are collaborative and like working with fast-paced agile product teams
  • Have a strong connection to, or interest, in building an understanding of the Australian disability sector and community

You ideally have experience with some of the following (and enjoy learning the ones you don’t)...

  • JavaScript; TypeScript for bonus points
  • Node.js or other back-end technologies
  • Front-end frameworks such as Vue.js, Angular or React
  • HTML, CSS and related build tools such as webpack and LESS/Sass
  • SQL and document databases
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS and architectures for leveraging their capabilities
