As a lead software test engineer, your primary focus will be to ensure the Product team are delivering high quality accessible features and services to our community. You’ll collaborate with the team to devise the most effective testing strategy and architect our automation suite to provide coverage of our various web applications and APIs allowing the team to deliver at pace with confidence.

Priorities - the work

  • Contribute to our re-platforming efforts as we migrate from a monolithic Angular 1.6 & Node app to an API-first, multi-service backend architecture with Vue.JS frontends
  • Define and execute testing strategies for our legacy and new web and mobile applications and backend APIs
  • Architect and build high quality and maintainable automation suites that verify behaviour of the systems under test including automating as much of our accessibility testing as possible
  • Grow our testing capabilities and help build a culture of quality and technical excellence through education, coaching and support for the engineering teams
  • Work closely with the Product Managers and development teams to understand requirements, refine acceptance criteria and produce relevant test artefacts
  • Develop, document, monitor and improve testing processes and procedures
  • Oversee the production release process to ensure adherence to quality standards
  • Work closely with the CTO to identify opportunities to grow the testing team and work with partners for additional support 

Skills - the person

  • Relevant IT degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience building test automation suites for web applications built on frontend technologies such as React or VueJS
  • API automation and integration testing experience
  • Preferably experience testing an AWS cloud based system
  • Knowledge and experience of accessibility guidelines and testing
  • Experience with BDD (Behaviour Driven Development) and related tooling
  • Experience with various database technologies such as SQL and/or document-based highly regarded
  • Mobile application testing experience beneficial
  • Collaborative approach with experience working in an Agile team environment
  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Great eye for detail and strong sense of responsibility
  • Strong connection to, or interest in building an understanding of the Australian disability sector and community
  • Approach work with high-energy, drive and internal motivation

The position is full-time and the salary will be dependent on experience.
