Hireup’s Finance team works collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure fiscal responsibility, strong financial governance, and accurate internal and external reporting. We are analytical problem-solvers and play an integral role in delivering a seamless Hireup experience to our community of users, whom we interact with on a daily basis. Reporting to our Head of Finance, our Financial Controller will oversee a fast growing accounting team and manage the day to day activities of the centralised Finance function with responsibility for all financial and statutory reporting, risk and treasury management, audit and tax. Playing a lead role in the continuing transformation of our finance function, you will proactively identify and deliver on improvement opportunities and ensure we have a strong governance and controls framework to support business strategy.

Priorities – the work

  • Recruit, lead, motivate and develop a growing team of professionals across our finance function and help to build their careers
  • Work in close partnership with the business and use your expertise to ensure the insights of the finance team effectively inform company and team strategies and objectives
  • Safeguard the company's assets and ensure the integrity of the financial processes and reporting by implementing appropriate internal controls
  • Manage the upkeep of corporate governance standards and measures and ensure compliance to statutory requirements
  • Manage treasury, credit controls and cash management to maximise liquidity for daily operational requirements
  • Maintain strong financial controls, including review of reconciliations for all general ledger and bank accounts
  • Review and, in conjunction with the team, post all journal entries affecting the general ledger
  • Relationship management of external auditors, bankers and government authorities on financial governance requirements
  • Responsible for all tax-related issues including liaison with tax authority on all tax declaration affairs
  • Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of proposed services, supplies and equipment; conducting cost and quality comparisons and analysis

Skills – the person

  • A qualified accountant, ideally with experience in a high transaction, complex and fast growing environment, plus Big 4 consulting or similar
  • Experience leading and growing a team through change
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, compliance and governance with the ability to think strategically and commercially
  • In depth knowledge of technical accounting standards and the know-how and enthusiasm for sharing that knowledge with others
  • A strong sense of drive, innovation, commitment and an adaptability to change
  • Well developed analytical and numerical skills with budgeting, forecasting and planning exposure
  • Experience with the disability sector or a strong interest in developing your understanding of this community
