At Hireup, we understand the important role technology, and specifically, digital product plays in connecting people. For our Product team, it’s not only about bringing together the perspectives of our community, users and internal team to guide the development of a best-in-class product, but also to ensure we are constantly building on a vision and delivering a product experience that seamlessly integrates into everyday life.

As an Experience Designer, your primary focus will be to define and deliver efficient, elegant design strategies that improve and enhance the customer-centric product that Hireup provides to our community.

Priorities – the work:

  • Be a research and design evangelist within Hireup, and create and facilitate opportunities to apply Design Thinking
  • Collaborate with our Data and Insights team to conduct user research (qualitative and quantitative) and help identify user needs, wants, behaviours and design requirements in the context of the Hireup platform
  • Define measures with stakeholders to better understand the impact of a successful design
  • Interpret research insights to identify product opportunities, analyse and frame complex experience challenges and collaboratively explore solutions at varying levels of fidelity with users, Hireup teams and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with product leadership and SMEs to extract relevant information for decision making such as research insights and journey modelling
  • Prioritise, assess and validate the user and business impact of design solutions, from conception to implementation - and beyond
  • Source and monitor user feedback to inform design iterations, including analysing customer feedback channels, analytics and usability findings
  • Create sketches, user flows, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, use cases, user stories and design specifications (as appropriate) to articulate, document and test ideas
  • Integrate successful outcomes into the overall design strategy, including shaping a feasible solution for MVP, with respect to priorities, scope and constraints
  • Support the development team through the refinement and implementation of the product
  • Keep up to date on competitors, the industry and government regulation
  • Support and mentor more junior designers as the team continues to expand
  • Continue to learn and share knowledge about all things design and product (e.g. meetups, conferences or courses; books & blogs)

Skills – the person:

  • 3+ years experience in a UX or design related role
  • Ability to support the prioritisation and facilitation of user research and design activities based on user and business needs, and be comfortable adapting methodology to suit desired outcomes and to minimise waste
  • Knowledge of user-centred design methodologies, inclusive design practices, usability principles and techniques
  • Ability to guide product strategy, information design and architecture, accessibility, visual hierarchy, legibility and copywriting
  • Experience working on cross-platform solutions
  • Understanding of the relationship between a product and service delivery - both online and offline experiences
  • Experience working with lean research and design methods in a cross-functional Scrum/Agile team in an end-to-end product lifecycle
  • Tool agnostic mindset focused more on impact than deliverables
  • Exceptional communication and relationship development skills
  • Strong connection to, or interest in building an understanding of, the Australian disability sector and community
  • Ability to think big whilst also being detail oriented
  • Organised and self-motivated
  • Exhibit empathy, adaptability, resilience, transparency, trustworthiness, passion and an innate curiosity
  • Approach work with confidence, decisiveness and drive
