Our Data and Insights team plays a vital role in ensuring we see the real impact we make on the individuals, families and communities we support. They are engaged with our community, passionate advocates for understanding the people behind the numbers and believe that data is ultimately the voice of a community at scale.

Priorities - the work

  • Analyse and document possible improvements based on feedback from our community of users
  • Use data to help other teams make decisions and solve practical business problems
  • Proactively contribute ideas and be involved in improving inefficiencies for a better community and worker experience, in partnership with Product and Service
  • Drive and advocate for data based decision making to improve our platform's appeal, client retention and engagement
  • Predict user/user cohorts vulnerable to churn and run rapid market experiments to support them to stay active
  • Recommendation engine development, understand the implications of a trained recommender engine
  • Performing natural language processing (NLP) to understand the nature of support required
  • Geospatial supply/demand analysis and modeling
  • Forecasting user complaints and assist in developing capacity planning tools
  • Optimising important operational metrics by conducting rapid market experiments followed by statistical hypothesis testing

Skills - the person

  • Background in any quantitative department (as long as you have the below skills and passion for solving problems).
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Solid understanding of statistics and probability theory (both descriptive and inferential).
  • Proficient in SQL (MySQL, PostgresSQL) - you can write quality SQL queries including aggregation, joins, subqueries.
  • Understand Python and R code written in OOP style, while being able to write well-structured and well-documented scripts utilising the Anaconda data science stack
  • Basic knowledge of data visualisation (preferably, skills on Tableau), data analysis and data cleaning
  • Hands on experience with artificial intelligence and machine learning related theory and projects (can be in formal academic or informal/self-learning settings)
  • Knows the basics of time-series analysis and modeling
  • Fearless self-starter, excited to drive and deliver projects autonomously
  • Approaches work with high-energy, drive and internal motivation
  • Knows how to ruthlessly prioritise and focus
  • Able to thrive in a rapid-paced, agile working environment
  • Sincerity in managing projects and rock-solid focus in documentation
  • Strong connection to, or interest in building an understanding of the Australian disability sector and community

The salary range for this role is 70,000-90,000, dependent on experience.
