Position Description

We are looking for a General Practitioner to provide continuity of care to our patients and community.

Town Description

Hervey Bay is a seaside resort with a population of about 50,000. It's one of the fastest growing towns in Australia and it's the gateway to Fraser's Island, the largest sandy straits in the world. Hervey Bay Airport has daily flights to southern capitals and is only three and a half hours drive north of Brisbane. It is an excellent location for families and retirees because of the hassle-free lifestyle. There are private schools and state schools both primary and secondary. The Fraser coast campus of the University of Southern Queensland is located here and there is a TAFE college.

Both indoor and outdoor recreational facilities are excellent and function perfectly here. These include Golf, Squash, Bowls, Tennis, Sailing, Fishing, Library, Cinemas, etc.

Shopping malls include Target, Coles, Big W, Good Guys, Aldi and Woolworth make shopping easier and there are multiple free parking spaces everywhere. Outdoor dining and plenty of restaurants around.

Practice Details

This a fully accredited and computerised practice, with six full time doctors, three nurses and support staff currently working at the moment. This surgery has been established for over 17 years and has moved to a purpose-built location in medical place adjacent to the new St Stephens private hospital. Everyone is bulk billed and services like minor operations, immunisation, Pap smears; Cryotherapy, ECG and Spirometry are provided. Also our practice is accredited for GP registrar training and there is a pathology onsite.

Our main type of clients is a mixed population of the elderly, tourists and young families. There are other allied health services such as the podiatrists, physiotherapists, psychologists, dietician and diabetic educators in the community that complements our practice. There is also a modern hospital with over 140 beds. Specialities like Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Medicine, Psychiatry, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Nephrology and Orthopaedics are available in our town and adjoining towns.
