Cannonvale is a coastal town, a few minutes from Airlie Beach and 20 km north-east of Proserpine. The Whitsunday Region encompasses the major townships of Airlie Beach, Bowen, Cannonvale, Collinsville and Proserpine and is home to approximately 35,000 permanent residents and continues to grow at a higher rate than the state average.

The area is known for its relaxed lifestyle with amazing beaches, rainforest, 74 islands and access to the Great Barrier Reef. Cannonvale's beautiful sheltered beach is perfect for splashing about with the kids away from the big crowds. There are children's play areas, public barbecues and picnic spots along the water, and at the end of the beach you'll find a curious molten rock formation begging to be explored, with rock pools to be combed over at low tide. Residents and visitors enjoy access to facilities including museums, galleries, caravan parks, cafes, hotels, restaurants and entertainment facilities. There are two marinas and numerous public boat ramps available to launch your boat. For those who don't have a boat, there is ample opportunity to explore The Whitsundays with one of the many tour groups.

Practice information:

The patient base is mixed, including retirees and young families. The practice will be a private billing medical centre. The practice will offer many services to their patients including minor procedures, suturing, cryotherapy, skin checks, shared prenatal care and tropical medicine. The centre will also offer care for minor emergencies and fractures.

After Hours requirements:

There is no afterhours roster.

Candidate profile:

The practice is looking for General Practitioners who value small-town life with the prospect of being very busy. The community and medical centre staff will welcome you and your family with open arms!

General Practitioners are required to take an interest in the management of chronic disease and assess patients on a regular basis with a strategy towards preventive care and the whole wellbeing of the patient.
