Role Overview

An exciting opportunity is now available for a passionate Therapy Assistant to join our talented NDIS Therapy Team. This role will be offered on a fixed term full time basis, the contract would be for 12 months and commence in January 2020. Initially this role be based in Guildford with a view for relocation closer to the Perth CBD in early 2020.

This is dynamic role that works in collaboration with other allied health clinicians in the Therapy Team (psychologist, occupational therapist, speech pathologist, exercise physiologist, dietitian, nurses etc.) to create innovative, sustainable and practical strategies (clinical, technical and behavioural) across all the primary health sectors including aged care, chronic disease, mental health and disability.

The Therapy Assistant will follow a personalised therapy intervention plan devised by an allied health clinician in the Therapy Team. The intervention plan will be person-centred, purposeful, functional, evidence-based and relationship-based therapeutic intervention.

Essential Minimum Selection Criteria

  • Completion of Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance or in the process of completing an Allied Health tertiary degree
  • 12 months demonstrated experience in a similar role
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team, working together to achieve the goals of participants
  • A proactive, professional with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An ability to work autonomously or as part of a team
  • A  strong understanding of and complete commitment to ethics and confidentiality
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Willing to obtain a National Police Clearance dated within 6 months
  • Willing to obtain a Working with Children Check
  • WA Drivers’
  • Access to a vehicle for work purposes which is fit for purpose and adequately insured

Desirable Attributes 

  • Tertiary Occupational Therapy qualification & AHPRA registration
  • Experience working with people who live with disability, mental health conditions and chronic diseases.
  • Experience working in a Health and/or Not for Profit organisation
  • Experience working in NDIS and in the community;
  • Experience working in the Positive Behaviour Support Framework
