Role Overview

An exciting opportunity is now available for a Senior Occupational Therapist. This is a dynamic role that works in collaboration with other allied health clinicians in the NDIS Therapy Services Team (psychologist, occupational therapist, speech pathologist, exercise physiologist, dietitian, nurses etc.) to create innovative, sustainable and practical strategies (clinical, technical and behavioural) across all the primary health sectors including aged care, chronic disease, mental health and disability.

Under the NDIS plan, the Therapy Services Team can provide the following services:

  • Capacity Building Improve Health and Wellbeing: Dietitian and Exercise Physiologist
  • Capacity Building Improve Relationships: Behaviour Support Services can be delivered by Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist and Psychologist
  • Capacity Building Improve Daily Living: Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist, Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Exercise Physiologist, Physiotherapist, Dietitian and Nurse

The Senior Occupational Therapist will lead and support the development and implementation of personalised therapeutic intervention plans. The intervention plan will be person-centred, purposeful, functional, evidence-based and relationship-based therapeutic intervention.

Essential Minimum Selection Criteria

  • Full Registration as an Occupational Therapist with Australian Health Professionals Registration Agency;
  • Three years' plus experience in the provision of holistic, person-centred and strengths-based services across different sectors such as mental health, disability, and aged care;
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and support a small team of Occupational Therapists;
  • Ability to promote, represent, advocate and influence in a complex and changing environment;
  • Ability to think strategically, innovatively and practically about ways to support vulnerable people to live in the community;
  • Ability to resolve complex and challenging issues by taking timely and appropriate decisions;
  • Ability to plan and manage resources and budgets effectively;
  • High level of written communication skills particularly in the development of quality care plans, case notes and report writing;
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to formulate and utilise outcome measurement tools;
  • Sound computer skills with proficiency in using Microsoft office software, windows operating systems and databases;
  • Ability to travel throughout regional areas of WA including overnight stays if necessary;
  • National Police check dated within 6 months or willingness to obtain;
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle.

Desirable Attributes

  • Knowledge of NDIS guidelines and frameworks;
  • Demonstrates an understanding and developing in skill and knowledge of a core level Behaviour Support Practitioner as described in the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework (June 2019);
  • Demonstrates a developing understanding of delivering NDIS services under the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework.
