Role Overview

An exciting opportunity is now available for a passionate and experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our growing NDIS Therapy Team. This role will be offered on a permanent full time basis, this role will be based from our Guildford head office, with a requirement to travel throughout the Perth metro area.

This is a dynamic role that works in collaboration with other allied health clinicians in the NDIS Therapy Services Team (Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist, Exercise Physiologist, Dietitian, Nurses etc.)

The primary focus for the Behaviour Support Practitioner is to assist in the implementation of a responsive behaviour support services, which provide support to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Participants and their key stakeholders. The incumbent will being responsible for the delivery of evidence based positive support services within the program.

Essential Minimum Selection Criteria

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in disability and delivering positive behaviour supports
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Speech Pathology or Occupational Therapy (suited to Provisional Psychologist that have supervisors in place)
  • Strong understanding of positive behaviour support framework and elimination of restrictive practices
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and evaluate the quality of behaviour support plans
  • Meets all the skills and knowledge of a proficient level Behaviour Support Practitioner as described in the NDIS Positive Behaviour Support Capability Framework (June 2019)
  • Understanding of delivering NDIA services under the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework
  • High level of written communication skills particularly in the development of quality mental health care plans, case notes and report writing
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills, to effectively liaise, consult and negotiate with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment and individually with minimum supervision
  • Demonstrated experience in and understanding the principles of confidentiality, particularly in relation to the handling of participant’s information
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to formulate and utilise outcome measurement tools
  • Sound computer skills with proficiency in using Microsoft office software and windows operating systems
  • Current driving licence, business vehicle insurance, and ability to travel throughout the region including overnight stays
  • National Police Check dated within 6 months or willingness to obtain
  • Working with Children Check

Desirable Attributes

  • Ability to demonstrate strong experience in positive behaviour support in the disability and mental health sector
  • Experience with Mastercare
  • Experiences in working with a diverse range of cultures and individuals
