Tell me about the role…

eheadspace Clinicians provide nationwide mental health services to young people and their families through online and telephone support. eheadspace services operate 7 days per week, 365 days per year between the hours of 9.00am and 1.00am, and include screening, assessment, delivery of brief psychological interventions, and information and referral to face to face services to and for young people from qualified mental health professionals.

Our clinicians also play a role in the ongoing planning, development and implementation of eheadspace services within headspace and from time to time, there may be opportunity to participate in further mental health programs or initiatives.

What we're looking for

headspace is seeking qualified professionals in either Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or Occupational Therapy:

  • At least 2 years' youth mental health experience post qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of evidenced based interventions as relevant to youth mental health clinical work.
  • Have a knowledge of the clinical needs of young people at all developmental stages, including young people from diverse groups and the needs of Family and Friends of young people.
  • Strong skills in risk assessment capability to assess the potential risk of harm to a young person and/or others through the gathering of information and analysis of the potential outcomes of identified behaviour and safety planning.
  • The ability to contribute new ideas for service improvement and creative solutions to practice issues identified within the team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to understand and utilise "online language" to correctly interpret client issues, convey warmth and validation, build trust and deliver therapeutic interventions and resources via webchat and email.
  • Inter-agency collaboration that you have the capability to understand the resources and services available to young people across the country and to liaise with these services as needed to mobilise a support network around the young person.
  • Exceptional verbal skills to ensure that there is correct interpretation of client work, ability to validate, build trust and deliver therapeutic interventions via phone. Exceptional written skills, to ensure that there are succinct and clear client notes that support continuity of care.
  • Capability to continuously and actively reflect on individual clinical practice through the process of Clinical Supervision, debriefing and consultation
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a productive team member in a time pressured role whilst managing multiple tasks.
  • Strong alignment with the values of the organisation

The salary range for this role is between $70,000 - $83,500 as the minimum base pay, (see below for further additional remuneration elements), plus superannuation and generous salary packaging (up to $15,800) opportunities. Expectations are that 70% of your permanent roster must contain an evening shift - 4pm-12am or 5pm-1am.

Remuneration and Benefits include:

  • Evening Shift penalty rate - Monday-Friday (4pm-12am or 5pm-1am) - 15% additional loading
  • Weekend Shift penalty rate - Saturday-Sunday (day and night) - 50% additional loading
  • Public Holiday penalty - 250% additional loading
  • Additional week's pro rata annual leave - if an employee works 10 permanent individual weekend shifts in a calendar year
  • Inhouse Supervision is provided by Bouverie trained Senior Clinicians (non-disciplinary based)
  • Inhouse and external Professional Development
  • A thorough and extensive orientation program is provided for all new eheadspace clinicians (6 days).
  • Career opportunities and progression is available within the broader Digital Mental Health Programs provided by headspace.

Note: Currently the team are working from home and expect to return to the Head Office, based in the city, from April 2021.
