headspace are looking to enhance our capacity to provide high quality, influential policy advice to Australian governments to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people across the nation. In February, headspace established a new division – the Strategy, Impact and Policy Division – to drive this agenda forward.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Strategy, Impact and Policy, the Head of Policy Advocacy will work closely with a range of internal stakeholders to improve national policy and program support and strengthen headspace’s position as an authoritative and credible voice for young people in Australia.
The Head of Policy Advocacy will develop a national policy reform agenda and work with headspace leaders to advocate for youth mental health policy reform.

You will have demonstrated experience in the development of policy analysis and advice, and the planning and delivery of strategic policy projects, in a complex environment.
You will bring a demonstrated high level of understanding of how Government health and social policies are developed and enacted. Your ability to build and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with stakeholders will be crucial to your success in this role.
A deep knowledge of youth mental health and social policy and programmes in the Australian health sector would be advantageous.
