Tell me about the role…

This exciting position sits within headspace Vocational Services, an online service that provides support to young people who are living with mental health difficulties and facing barriers to work and study participation. This role is responsible for the implementation of clinical services offered to young people and managing a small team of Clinical Advisors.

What we're looking for

  • A strong leader with clinical experience and professional knowledge of team management and service delivery.
  • An innovative mental health professional who can demonstrate advanced clinical competency and be highly motivated to engage, liaise and negotiate with a broad range of professionals.
  • Approved tertiary qualification in an allied health discipline, including social work, psychology (clinical, counselling, and 4+2 or 5+1 pathway), mental health nursing, and occupational therapy.
  • Eligibility for membership of an appropriate professional body. Social workers are required to be eligible for full membership with AASW. Psychologists, mental health nurses, and occupational therapists are required to have full registration with AHPRA.
  • Advanced level of clinical skills within (youth) mental health and demonstrated knowledge and experience in the provision of mental health assessments, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and short-term mental health interventions to young people.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing clinical guidance and advice for an integrated mental health service for young people.
  • Experience in managing a small team including day to day line management, developing a positive team culture and providing stable and supportive leadership.
  • Highly experienced in the provision of clinical supervision.
  • Experience in supporting clinical service delivery/program management and development, including providing oversight of governance.
  • A good understanding of the mental health service system in Australia, including the range of professionals that work within, or encounter, the mental health sector.
  • Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written, with an ability to interact with a diverse range of people, for example, young people, health professionals, academic researchers, service providers, etc.
