The Hobart Community Legal Service (HCLS) is a community organisation that aims to foster community awareness of the law, to make the law more equitable and accessible to the public, and to provide free legal information, advice, and referral to the general public in southern Tasmania

about the opportunity

We are looking for a lawyer to join our team providing legal assistance to people in Southern Tasmania, particularly those who are disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances.

We are a generalist legal service providing legal advice, casework and representation in areas of the law including Consumer, Criminal, Family Law, Family Violence, Industrial Relations and Centrelink.

The position would be preferably full time but this is negotiable. Initially a 12 month period with possibility of extension.

Some experience would be preferable but would consider someone who is keen to learn.

Salary will be according to experience and is paid according to the SCHADS award.
