The Haymarket Foundation is a secular, Sydney based charity organisation that has worked with people who are experiencing, or at risk of homelessness for almost 50 years. We are seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to join our team in Sydney's first and only privately owned bulk-billing general practice specialising in homeless health and vulnerable populations.

About the role

We believe everyone should have access to high quality primary healthcare, regardless of income, housing status, visas, LGA or level of need. Our team supports this philosophy by taking a person-centred human rights approach and providing highly professional wrap around support to anyone in need, ranging from early intervention to acute crisis intervention and post-crisis supports.

You will be working in a newly renovated consultation room alongside a General Practitioner, with close support also provided by a Practice Coordinator, an administrative team and the Haymarket Foundation’s team of case managers, social workers, and allied health professionals.

Our ideal candidate will have an interest and experience in chronic disease management, cycle of care, substance misuse and mental health. Our goal is to create long-term associations with our patients as we support them into, and to maintain long-term housing in the community.

Typical duties include management of, immunisations, wound care, assisting with minor procedures, stock control, health assessments, management of chronic disease, ECG, spirometry, and infection control. Robust management of recall and reminder correspondence is also a key part of this role, which will be supported by our administration and case management teams.

This position is part-time, with a minimum appointment time of 20 minutes on a bulk-billing basis both face to face and via telehealth.

  • Current full registration with AHPRA (E)
  • Current CPR certificate (E)
  • Experience in the General Practice Environment (E)
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills, specifically in client rapport building, and team work (E)
  • National criminal record check (E)
  • Working with Children Check (E)
  • Proven ability to engage with clients and to set clear professional boundaries (E)
  • Ability and commitment to work in a team approach (E)
  • Familiar with vaccines and cold chain management (D)
  • Familiar with care plans & health assessments (D)
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with MediRecords (D)
