Hawthorn Community House is looking for an energetic person to provide reception and office administration support. A commitment to community development and inclusion is essential.

Hawthorn Community House provides social, educational and recreational activities for the community in a welcoming and supportive environment. We seek to strengthen the local community by providing opportunities for people to learn, to share skills, to meet new people and to support each other.

We are looking for part time Receptionist/Admin assistant for Monday, Tuesday & Friday 9am - 3pm (negotiable).

Position Duties:

  • Welcome visitors and participants to the house
  • Respond positively to all requests from participants and community members and provide information and referrals as appropriate
  • Process enrolments and collect fees
  • Manage participant enrolments including waiting lists, class numbers and attendance lists
  • Maintain filing systems and records management
  • Develop and maintain electronic and postal mailing lists
  • Petty cash reconciliations and banking
  • Update promotional material, both electronic and print
  • Participate as an active team member in staff meetings

Key Selection Criteria

  • High levels of written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills
  • Ability to work effectively in team environment.
  • Commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive service to a diverse community
