Gladstone Women’s Health Centre is a not-for-profit organisation that has been serving the Gladstone Region for over 27 years. We provide generalist Women’s Health Services and counselling, group therapy, support, information and referral for women, children and men who have experienced Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified women to fill this senior leadership role in the Gladstone Region, with the ability to motivate, and the authority to oversee a team of counsellors/case managers representing a range of disciplines.

Employment is commensurate with experience and qualifications under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award, 2010.

About the Role

The Team Leader – Counselling/Case Management will provide leadership to a team of Specialist DFV, Sexual Assault and Women’s Health Practitioners who receive and manage all referrals for women, children and young people to the centre, including the delivery of client screening, assessment, crisis responses, service planning, targeted interventions, allocation and coordination of referrals. As the Team Leader, you will be accountable for team performance outcomes. You will manage, support and develop team members to build a culture of high performance, collaboration and innovation.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Degree or above qualification in social work, psychology, family therapy or similar discipline with minimum four (4) years relevant experience post qualification.
  • 5+ years successful employee management supervision experience.
  • Demonstrated aptitude toward leadership and a commitment and skills to provide individual, peer and group supervision, debriefing and self-care practices.
  • A thorough understanding of case management practice informed by a gender analysis of violence against women and children, the impact of trauma, human rights, and feminist theory.
  • High level ability to provide advice and direction for staff on complex matters including, crisis intervention, comprehensive risk assessments and safety planning, timely and considered decision making, and planning to respond to client's needs in a trauma informed manner.
  • Ability to model positive and dynamic leadership skills to lead, support and develop a team of case managers to inspire vision, direction, and professional conduct.
  • Demonstrated staff management experience, including recruitment and workforce retention, performance management and professional development strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport and foster harmonious and collaborative relationships internally and with external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated resilience and aptitude in working with complex and important matters, sound judgement and ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • A flexible approach to leadership within a changing environment, embracing growth and creating a positive vision, culture, and direction for the team.
  • Emotional strength to work in an environment where exposed to people who have been abused and who experience mental heal issues.
  • Confidentiality and experience with working with personal and sensitive information.
  • Lives locally in the Gladstone Region or is willing to relocate to the area.
  • Intermediate computer skills in a range of software programs including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and data collection systems.

Desirable Criteria

  • Management experience in a DFV and/or not for profit setting.
  • Membership of a Professional body associated with the position's prime purpose

Other requirements

  • Membership of GWHC.
  • Own vehicle and current driver’s license with comprehensive vehicle insurance.
  • Current Working with Children Check and Criminal Record Check.
