GVCASA is a program of GV Health and is one of 15 Centres Against Sexual Assault that operate throughout Victoria providing a range of support services for those impacted by sexual assault. Together we work to ensure that women, children and men who are victims/survivors of sexual assault have access to comprehensive and timely support and interventions to address their needs. GVCASA provides a range of services including counselling, group work, advocacy, secondary consultation, training for other professionals and community education. GVCASA’s main office is located in Shepparton and provides outreach services throughout the West Hume Region.
The Intake and Assessment worker provides effective, evidence-based and culturally sensitive intake and assessment for people who have experienced, or been impacted by sexual assault/violence, either recently or in the past. The Intake and Assessment Worker will assess the client’s level of need, provide information and initial support to those wishing to access our service or seek advice; and is responsible for the oversight of demand management. This role is also responsible for providing immediate access to service and support for recent victims/survivors of sexual assault, which may involve the provision of a face to face response at the Crisis Care Unit at GV Health, or the Shepparton Police Station. The intake service also provides specialist advice to members of the community including secondary consultations to professionals.
The impacts of sexual assault can be complex; working in this sector can be challenging but tremendously rewarding. We are looking for a professional who understands this and is ready to join our dynamic and growing team. We hold our clients at the centre of everything we do, and the Intake and Assessment worker will play a key role in being the initial contact for our service. The successful candidate will have strong advocacy skills, have an excellent understanding of demand management and service coordination strategies, hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Registered Nurse, Counselling or other relevant profession; and have a good understanding of what working within a trauma informed framework involves.
