Employment Type: Permanent part-time position (2 days a week)

Position Classification: Social Worker Level 3

Remuneration: Starting from $40.51 per hour including Superannuation

Hours per week: 15.2

About Gunawirra:

  • Since 2008, Gunawirra’s holistic programs have focused on breaking the cycle of trauma and disadvantage among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
  • Our founding pillars are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and psychoanalytic thinking which jointly inform all our work.
  • Our multi-disciplinary teams provide early intervention to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mothers and their children from conception to five years. Along with providing teacher support to rural preschools across NSW.
  • Our programs introduce psychotherapy, art therapy, speech therapy and group therapy to reverse this downward spiral.
  • Guided by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders and non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specialists.

About the Role:

  • Provide accountable, competent and effective clinical supervision to clinical employees.
  • Conduct reviews of the quality of clinical work within all Gunawirra’s programs (including observing work and auditing client files).
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to supervisees, including strengths and areas to work, and practitioner professional development needs and opportunities.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with the Clinical Manager and Executive team in relation to probation and clinical reviews of supervisees’ practice, clinical employee competencies, compliance, and matters pertaining to concerns of performance.
  • Maintain computer based diary management system to enable effective and informed supervision bookings.
  • Understand and meet legislative and funding requirements including collecting and recording statistical data relevant to your role, and do so in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide input into the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols within the work area.
  • Actively participate in professional development including continuing education opportunities provided through the organisation and regular clinical and cultural supervision

What you bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in Psychoanalysis, Psychology, Counselling, Social Work or other appropriate Human Services.
  • Master degree in Psychoanalysis, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Counselling, Social Work or other appropriate Human Services would be highly desirable.
  • Cultural knowledge of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people would be desirable.
  • Formal qualifications in Supervision - Australian Psychology Board STAP qualifications or other supervision training program would be highly desirable.
  • Minimum five year’s relevant experience in the human services area (e.g. Psychoanalysis, Psychology, Psychotherapy, Counselling, Social work and allied health workers).
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply best practice models for clinical supervision.
  • Assessment, evaluation and management of complex cases involving ethical dilemmas and duty of care matters, risk assessment, child safety and domestic and family violence issues.
  • Commitment to the purpose of supervision, and to ethical, professional and open practice, and the ability to self-reflect and apply new learning.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
