The University of Melbourne Graduate Student Association (GSA) is an independent, student-led, not for profit association representing over 36,000 postgraduate students at the University of Melbourne. We are led by a Council of 15 elected graduate students and managed by a team of experienced professionals, providing education-related programs and services which position our cohort for success during and after the completion of their advanced studies. A University of Melbourne postgraduate qualification is an incredible asset and GSA is committed to supporting these students through their study.

Purpose of the role

The role provides support and undertakes tasks to increase communication and marketing capacity for GSA with effective and efficient communications both internally and externally including social media, stakeholder engagement, events, publications and digital media. The role will also be responsible for graphic designing and managing the photography of our major events activities.

The role is a fixed-term part-time (0.6 FTE) 10 month contract.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Studying a relevant degree (Communications/Graphic Design/Marketing) or completion of a relevant qualification and subsequent relevant work experience
  • High level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to relate effectively with a range of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise and schedule communications, work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and broadcast communication skills, including experience in writing, editing and producing multimedia web and social media content, for a variety of audiences.
  • High level of proficiency in the use of standard application software such as the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Creative Suite
