Grow is a not-for-profit non-government organisation which was started in Sydney in 1957 by a group of people who believed that, together, they could support each other to overcome the difficulties they experienced in their everyday life caused by mental illness. The goal of Grow is to help people go on to live a healthy life full of hope and aspiration. Grow is a peer to peer support program utilising weekly group meetings and Grow’s own 12th step program to encourage an individual’s self-activation through mutual help principles to become the main agent in their own recovery and personal growth.
The Program Worker role supports and develops the Grow leaders attending our mutual help groups, provides information, and promotes Grow programs in the wider community as well as to creates opportunities for the further development of Grow programs. We are seeking candidates for a full-time position to work in the Greater Sydney area. The head office for Grow Eastern Region (NSW/ACT/QLD) is based in Ballina. The successful candidate will need to have the capacity to, at times, work from a home office as well as in the field covering Greater Sydney.
The successful applicant will need to identify with GROW’s philosophy, be self-motivated, flexible, energetic, team-spirited, and open to ongoing training.
Relevant qualifications and experience may include tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Youth Services, or Peer Support Group Work/Community Development, and Training, with a minimum of Certificate IV.
With the advent of social distancing caused by the present pandemic, the successful applicant will need to be tech-savvy and familiar with the use of video conferencing software.
You will need to hold a current NSW driver’s license and have current criminal history notice (within three months) or the ability to obtain one before the commencement of the position.
