The Opportunity:

If you are an enthusiastic dog lover then you could be the right person for the role of Kennel Manager at Greyhound Rescue - an ethical rescue charity located an hour south of Sydney’s CBD. The opportunity is rewarding, dynamic and diverse, suiting a professional with the passion and dedication to help greyhounds. The role offers an exciting chance to develop programs from the ground up and work with an amazing team.

You will be directly responsible for:

• Operational Management of our Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Rehoming Centre ensuring an excellent standard of animal care
• Management of staff and volunteers
• Overseeing the surrender and adoption of greyhounds
• Onsite and offsite care of all greyhounds for which we are responsible

Your background and experience:

Management experience is key to the role, and an ethical approach to animal rescue and the use of positive reinforcement techniques is imperative. You must be flexible, and have the ability to multitask and work well under pressure in our busy Rehoming Centre, bringing with you a keen desire to learn and to adapt to change. A passion and commitment to delivering excellent standards of care, rehabilitation, and rehoming is essential. A thorough knowledge of dog behaviour, socialisation and force- free, positive reinforcement training techniques is key to the role.

Skills and qualifications required include:

• Qualifications in canine behaviour/assessments/training/rehabilitation or equivalent experience
• Qualifications in animal care such as Cert 3 in Companion Animal Services or equivalent experience
• Ability to assess dog behaviour, develop rehabilitation and training plans, and use positive reinforcement/force free training
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, basic computer literacy
• Current driver’s license; willingness to travel and work outside normal business hours (manual driver advantageous)
• Ability to lift 20kg
