ABOUT THE ROLE

The Operations Manager will oversee the day-to-day administrative activities of The Greens NSW (GNSW). This is the senior, administrative position of GNSW. As the team leader of GNSW staff, all staff ultimately report into this position from a line management perspective.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operations Manager will work closely with the Committee of Management, Office Bearers to provide logistical, management, communications, human resource and strategic advice and support.

Key responsibilities will include:

  1. Managing the administrative day to day activities of The Greens NSW (GNSW). This will be the senior, administrative position of GNSW. It is the team leader of GNSW staff. All staff ultimately report into this position from a line management perspective.
  2. Providing timely logistical, management, communications, human resource and strategic advice and support to the Committee of Management (COM).
  3. Implementing the strategies developed by the COM and the Standing Campaign Committee (SCC).
  4. In conjunction with the existing staff and Office Bearers of GNSW, supporting the Party to comply with all relevant legislation and regulatory obligations including NSW Electoral Commission and Australian Electoral Commission requirements.
  5. Providing support as requested to campaign committees, the State Delegates Council (SDC) and other committees where appropriate, taking into account work priorities established with the Office Bearers of GNSW.
  6. Working closely with the Office Bearers of GNSW to coordinate the implementation of Party decisions within the state office.
  7. Working within delegated authorities and approved budgets to manage operational systems, resources and staff.
  8. Working towards upgrading the systems and policies within the office.
  9. Facilitating procedures and a culture to increase volunteer assistance in the office.
  10. Working towards supporting a continuous campaigning model of operations by GNSW, including fundraising.
  11. Other duties as directed.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

The Operational Manager must meet the following essential requirements:

  1. A demonstrated ability to work collegially and consultatively in a committee-based environment in a small teams-based office, including working with a Board.
  2. High level management and administrative capacity, preferably in an NGO or similar organisation, including the personnel functions of the organisation and including basic financial and budgetary literacy.
  3. Experience in, or an understanding of, the complexities of working within a campaigning environment and the ability to manage competing administrative and campaigning priorities.
  4. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise.
  5. A demonstrated ability to project manage.
  6. High level written and verbal communications skills.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders I a largely volunteer organisation.
  8. Understanding of legal and compliance terminology and be able to liaise with external legal and compliance bodies. This may include briefing solicitors and advising the Committee of Management.
  9. The ability to use systems including Office 365, Microsoft Project, and an understanding of CRM, and document/record management systems.
  10. Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or experience.
  11. A current Working with Children Check or be able to obtain one within the first month

Note: Occasional evening and weekend work and travel within NSW will be required.

Successful candidates must not be a member of another political party.

PAY AND CONDITIONS

  • Salary range: $100,000 - $130,000 FTE p.a. + 10.5% superannuation.
  • Primary Location: The Greens NSW state office, Suite D, 263-279 Broadway, Glebe.
  • Hours: 35
  • Status: Full Time, Permanent
  • Position begins: October 2021
  • Covered by: The Greens NSW Staff Collective Agreement.
