In NSW we have 6 Members of Parliament, two Senators in the Federal Parliament, and a significant number of local government Councillors. We are comprised of 61 local groups across the state.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will provide administrative support to the Operations Manager and staff of the Greens NSW. The position works at the centre of office operations to enable its smooth functioning. The position requires a person with sound administrative skills and generalist office experience. The position will intersect with most of the other staff in the organisation.

Key responsibilities of the Administration Assistant will include:

  • Provide assistance to the Operations Manager
  • Respond to and redirect incoming queries via email and voicemail
  • Assist with record keeping
  • Manage incoming and outgoing post
  • Provide support to other administrative staff
  • Provide ongoing assistance in implementing new procedures and administrative systems
  • Liaison to the property manager and external suppliers; organising repairs and maintenance, liaise with cleaners, order and maintain office supplies
  • Triage complaints; early resolution and escalation where appropriate
  • Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) compliance
  • Other duties as required.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The Administration Assistant must meet the following essential requirements:

  1. Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
  2. Possess a strong understanding of the importance of discretion and confidentiality in dealing with sensitive information and competing interests.
  3. Possess the ability to take minutes during meetings, and possess sound Microsoft Office suite skills
  4. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and manage competing priorities under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  5. Demonstrate the ability to implement new policies, processes and practices.
  6. Understanding of and commitment to the Greens principles and policies.
  7. Possess good analytical skills, judgment, and discretion.
  8. Show sound digital literacy, including experience working with CRMs, CMS, Office 365, EDMs and social media.
  9. Experience in working with and coordinating volunteers and managing events.
  10. Possess a current Working with Children Check or obtain one within the first month of employment

Note: Successful candidates must not be a member of another political party.

PAY AND CONDITIONS

  • Salary: $73,993.69 pro rata + superannuation contribution 11.5%.
  • Primary Location: The Greens NSW office in Glebe or remotely.
  • Hours: Part time (3 days per week)
  • Status: Fixed term for 6 months with the possibility to extend.
  • Covered by: The Greens NSW Staff Collective Agreement.
