Greenpeace is an independent campaigning organisation, which uses peaceful, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems, and develop solutions for a green and peaceful future.
The Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP) Program department is responsible for fighting against the planet’s enemies. The primary goal of GPAP is to bring down the might of the fossil fuel order ensuring climate action at the speed and scale necessary; this team’s job is to run campaigns that fulfil this goal. You’ll be working closely with our Pacific-based Head of Pacific, and our Australian-based campaigns team to take the fight of the Pacific to the world’s biggest stages, and work on campaigns that will optimise and build power in the Pacific to compel action on the climate crisis.
GPAP is looking for a Pacific Engagement Coordinator to join us on a 12-month contract basis. The Pacific Engagement Coordinator plays a leading role in amplifying the work being done to confront the climate crisis across the Pacific Islands, and will work closely with the Head of Pacific to create thought-provoking and compelling storytelling and engagement experiences, to inspire supporters and help us win campaigns.
You’ll also collaborate closely with communities and allies in the Pacific to uplift Pacific Islander voices, including through creating and sharing Pacific Island content to key audiences and stakeholders. The role also includes organising, leading and attending online and in person events (in line with new ways of working and COVID-19 safety precautions), in order to build the key relationships required to influence change and attract the resources necessary to fund our vital work in the Pacific.
We’re looking for someone who has a practical understanding of the importance of campaign communications and storytelling, including in the digital space. You’ll be capturing and building stories and images on the ground, so will have impressive digital capabilities, including intermediate design, photography and multimedia skills, and excellent digital and written storytelling and marketing abilities. You’ll also have incredible relationship building and interpersonal skills, and be able to identify and build relationships with key stakeholders from a range of backgrounds. We’re also looking for someone who’s highly organised, with great project management skills, and the ability to plan, organise and prioritise multiple projects and maintain tight deadlines.
The preferred location for this role is Fiji, however we are open to considering candidates from other Pacific Island Forum member states.
You’ll also have:
Salary FJD 60,000 - 65,000 per annum.
