Investigations Officer

Greenpeace Australia Pacific

GREENPEACE

Greenpeace is an independent campaigning organisation, which uses peaceful, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems, and develop solutions for a green and peaceful future.

THE TEAM

The power of the fossil fuel industry, and its backers, depends on keeping secrets about how it harms the environment, hinders democracy, and enriches a select few. The mission of Greenpeace’s Research and Investigations (R+I) team is to expose those secrets and secure justice for communities on the front lines of the climate crisis.

As an Investigations Officer at Greenpeace Australia Pacific, you will be working closely with the Head of Research and Investigations and a global team of researchers, volunteers, and campaign experts to make a real difference in the world.

THE ROLE

This is an exciting, multifaceted Investigations opportunity, encompassing elements of a consultative, strategic, and functional role. As the Investigations Officer, you will drive world leading investigations to stop the climate crisis and bring the climate criminals to justice.

In this role, you will work closely with the Campaigns teams, and the Head of R+I to ensure our investigations are integrated seamlessly within our campaigns to achieve GPAP’s strategic objectives.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to Greenpeace’s overall R+I strategy, driving innovation and placing technology at the forefront of how we conduct investigations.

This is a 12 month fixed term contract position.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We’re looking for the best Investigator out there: someone driven by a sense of justice, motivated by righting wrongs, and who gets joy and satisfaction from exposing climate criminals.

You'll have experience in fieldwork and finding information that is hard to find! Being tech-forward and skilled in key digital investigative techniques is essential to being successful in this role.

You’ll also have:

  • Examples of published investigative work you have completed;

  • Tertiary education (Degree or Advanced Degree) or the equivalent;

  • The ability to synthesise a large amount of information and write in a compelling and succinct way; and

  • Awareness and a high level of experience using digital technology in an investigations context.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • An incredible opportunity to drive world leading investigations to stop the climate crisis and bring climate criminals to justice;

  • Access to an expert campaigns and communications team;

  • Access to and support from our global R+I network, and the opportunity to connect with our R+I team across the world;

  • A great work-life balance including 35 hour work week, genuine flexible working arrangements and integrity framework; and

  • A culture that celebrates justice and belonging.

  • Salary $84,914.70 per annum + Superannuation
