THE TEAM

The Creative Confrontation Unit leads Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP)'s iconic actions which use creativity and boldness to further campaigns and win on climate. We are a team of experienced activists that empower our volunteers and enrich our campaigns. The team is part of the Program department, which also includes our Campaigners, Communications experts, and Research and Investigations team. We work together to organise the strategic actions that supersize our campaign impact! Whether it's stopping a huge new coal mine, taking the fight for the Pacific to the world's biggest stages, or pushing huge corporations to go 100% renewable, you'll be working on campaigns that will make the world safer and more just.

THE ROLE

The Creative Confrontation Assistant is responsible for creating an enriching experience for our volunteers in the new Greenpeace Online & Tech team, so they can grow, develop and deliver innovative, confrontational online tactics as part of campaigns. This role will work closely with the Head of Creative Confrontation and the Volunteer & Activist Coordinator.

You will play a key role in the planning, preparation, coordination and implementation of Creative and Confrontational online tactics which help achieve campaign goals and ultimately bring down the might of the fossil fuel order that is standing in the way of a sustainable future.

This is a 6 month, fixed- term contract position.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We’re looking for an inspiring coordinator and innovator - someone with some experience coordinating volunteer groups and who is excited about online confrontational tactics that can deliver real world outcomes. You’ll be a quick thinker who’s up for learning and experimenting, with a motivated, excited, and enthusiastic approach to working with volunteers and delivering creative and confrontational tactics. This role is a great opportunity to learn more about strategic campaigning and be experimental with tactics.

You’ll also have:

  • Time management skills, in particular the ability to plan, organise and work to deadlines
  • Wonderful relationship building skills, with the ability to form trust and relationships effectively
  • Enthusiasm to learn and grow as an organiser and build your creative confrontational appetite
  • Know your way around different online platforms, be able to do the research to understand technology and think outside the box.

Salary of $36,435.49 per annum + Superannuation, based on working 3 days/21 hours per week.
