From humble beginnings in the 1950s when a small band of loving parents in Wollongong decided that their children with intellectual disabilities deserved a quality education, Greenacres has grown to be an innovative pioneer in the disability services sector and one of the leading disability service providers in the Illawarra region. Greenacres provides services and programs from 30 different sites across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven. Every week we support over 600 people to live the life they imagine.

Greenacres is currently looking for two suitably qualified people to join our Board who are passionate about working in the Disability Sector and enhancing lifestyles and opportunities for people with disability.

We are seeking new Board Members who have:

  • Demonstrated values that align with Greenacres’ values of Fairness, Integrity, Respect and Empathy and knowledge and experience in some of the following:
    • Business growth, fundraising and marketing skills
    • Financial Management
    • Using or managing NDIS plans and Service Agreements
    • Understanding of the objectives and operation of the NDIS
    • Strategic Planning within a Not-for-Profit Organisation

The Disability Sector continues to undergo rapid change and the Board is focused on continual development to future proof and ensure best positioning of the organisation to meet the challenges of working and providing services in an environment that is evolving both culturally and financially.

It should be noted that these positions are undertaken on a voluntary basis and require a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and a Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearances.

Directors are expected to prepare for and participate in:

  • Scheduled Board Meetings - currently six per year
  • Regular Sub-committee Meetings
  • Annual Strategic Planning Day
  • Greenacres Community Events whenever possible
