headspace provides support to young people aged 12-25 experiencing mild to moderate or emerging mental health issues. headspace Tuggeranong is a new youth health service opening in 2021. The multidisciplinary team at headspace Tuggeranong strives to improve health, social and vocational/educational outcomes for young people.

We welcome and encourage applications from people who have a lived experience of mental illness and recovery, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with diverse culture and linguistic backgrounds and people with disability.

About the position

The Mental Health Clinician works with young people and their support systems to identify their support needs, goals and to develop collaborative care plans. This position will also work closely with other team members and external service providers to maximise care outcomes for young people referred to headspace Tuggeranong.

This position is based in Canberra at our brand-new facility at headspace Tuggeranong in Greenway. It’s part-time or full-time (negotiable) and is fixed term until 30 June 2022 with a high probability of extension. A relocation allowance is available for the preferred candidate.

What you’ll need

  • Current full AHPRA registration or be working towards registration as a clinical psychologist, registered psychologist, or occupational therapist (accredited with OTA as meeting the Australian Competency Standards for occupational therapists in mental health), or accreditation with the AASW as a mental health social worker
  • Experience in assessment and diagnosis of mental health disorders, provision of Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy and other evidence-based focused psychological strategies
  • Demonstrated understanding of key issues in relation to the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems
