Non-Executive Directors (Voluntary)

Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand

The Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand Board is seeking expressions of interest for several expensed volunteer Non-Executive Director positions.

About us

Good Shepherd Australia New Zealand (GSANZ), established in 1863, addresses critical and contemporary issues facing women, girls and families. With the principles of reconciliation, justice, zeal, audacity and the value of each person at its heart, Good Shepherd has for 150 years worked to change the lives of countless people and supported them to stay safe, strong and well. Working with the most vulnerable people in our community, GSANZ provides financial inclusion and capability programs and services to ensure people do not fall through the cracks, while also supporting women in crisis due to family violence with crisis services, housing, financial services or family counselling.

About the role

With a $55m (AUD) turnover and a $200m (AUD) balance sheet in 2021, GSANZ is seeking to appoint several independent Non-Executive Directors to be part of the Board that will help write the next chapter of our story through strategic planning for Australia and New Zealand and sound governance of Australian operations. The GSANZ Board meets every two months either face-to-face or via video conference, in Melbourne and New Zealand (one meeting) and also attends several organisation-wide events.

The role requires attending approximately 6 board meetings and serving on at least one board committee per year. Current board committees are Finance, Risk and Audit and Mission and Service Strategy. Directors are also expected to attend Good Shepherd Day, Network Day, one Board retreat and annual planning sessions.

Directors will be required to undertake at least 12hrs of governance-related professional development as a regulatory requirement.
