ABOUT THE GLEN

The Glen is 35-bed drug and alcohol residential rehabilitation centre established in 1994 and located at Chittaway Point. Our program is designed to treat a client in a holistic manner by addressing all of their issues. This means that we treat the person as a whole (spiritually, mentally and physically). We don’t just treat their addiction, we also look at things in their life that may be causing the addictive behaviours. Our program is about empowering people to take control of their lives, to live a good, fun life and to become active members of their families and the community as a whole.

ABOUT THE GLEN FOR WOMEN

The Glen for Women is a newly established 20-bed facility for women opening in April 2022 and located at Wyong Creek, and will be based a similar treatment philosophy as The Glen for Men. We are seeking strong, compassionate, empathetic woman with demonstrated experience of strength based and trauma informed approaches to address and support the needs of women seeking treatment.

Your role

The role will include working with many women (and some men) in order to get restoration and advocate for parenting rights. The Kinship Coordinator will work closely with the Mental Health Nurse, and the Clinical Teams at The Glen for Women and The Glen for Men.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The Kinship Coordinator will respond to needs of the clients in The Glen for Women and The Glen in regard to parenting needs. This may include reading reports about children or young people who may have been harmed or where there have been safety concerns in the past. The first priority is always the safety, welfare and wellbeing of the children or young person. Helping work with the parents in regard to addressing their Addiction and or Mental Health issues is part of advocating for both the parent and the child.

Client Responsibilities

  • Ensure all clients have a thorough case plan and are aware of this plan regarding their children and parenting skills.
  • Make the final decision in client related decisions involving children in Out of Home care and Parenting Program issues.
  • Work collaboratively with the clinical teams at The Glen for Women and The Glen for Men, to advocate for client needs
  • Work sensitively and respectfully with parents, family members, children or young people
  • Work collaboratively with other agencies (including having a strong understanding of the DCJ process)
  • Develop safety plans and complete risk assessments for children and parents whenever interactions are being planned
  • Manage cases and situations, and solve complex clinical problems including working with high needs and high-risk clients and their families
  • Be involved in court processes, including the preparation of court documents, and attending court to support clients

The role includes working closely with the intake team in assessing the Parenting needs of all people applying to The Glen residential program and then supporting the staff of The Glen for Women and The Glen to support the clients in their parenting needs.

Program Responsibilities

  • Liaise with staff internally and external stakeholders to support residents in The Glen for Women and The Glen.
  • Prepare and actively participate in de-briefing sessions with the clinical team at morning and afternoon change over as required
  • Ensure staff understand Procedures to work with clients with Children in Out of Home Care.
  • The Kinship Coordinator will at times be asked to facilitate and arrange group therapy sessions, work with individuals in one-to-one sessions.

Administration Responsibilities

  • Complete shift reports at the end of each shift
  • Maintain client case notes in the client file on the client management system (Mimaso)
  • Ensure case notes based on observable behaviour and facts.
  • Contribute to staff meetings, team development activities, performance initiatives and service development activities
  • Participate in staff appraisal and identify areas of professional development
  • Write support letters for clients

REMUNERATION

Salary will be negotiated with successful candidates, with an expected range of $90k - $100k
