The Role

Our Recovery Coach will be vital in bringing their specialist knowledge and skills in psychosocial recovery, mental health and service navigation within the mental health system to collaborate with participants, their families, carers, and other services to design to plan implement and review a recovery plan.

The Recovery Coach will also provide supports to people with psychosocial disability to assist them to increase their independence both socially and economically, take control over their lives and better manage the challenges of daily living, benefit from a recovery-enabling relationships and skilled coaching.

Reporting to the Capacity Lead, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Participant with Recovery Coaching and implementing their NDIS Plan
  • Developing a Recovery enabling relationship, supporting engagement with the NDIS and other services/supports
  • Ensuring that billable targets (KPI’s) are met on a consistent basis
  • Ensuring privacy, confidentiality, dignity of choice and informed consent
  • Ensuring appropriate notes and data are captured in the supplied database 
  • Working collaboratively with all external providers including community or mainstream supports as part of the participants “care team”
  • Conflict of interest management
  • Documentation and NDIS billing

Required skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or (community services, other related health fields or similar training) 
  • Significant experience in mental-health related peer work and the community sector
  • Demonstrated experience in meeting targets and KPI’s
  • Knowledge and understanding of psychosocial disability and recovery, including trauma-informed practice, supported decision making and family inclusive practice. 
  • Experience in accessing and coordinating community resources, services and other government service systems. 
  • Demonstrated experience with understanding the episodic nature of mental illness and collaborating with relevant services to plan and maintain engagement 
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License, own vehicle, and ability to undertake travel as required 
  • Current Police and Working With Children Checks 

Desirable

  • Experience working with participants requiring a range of complex supports and/or case coordination
  • Lived or employed experience of NDIS psychosocial plans, reviews and billing (as a worker, participant and/or carer)
  • Ability to work occasionally out of hours as agreed
