Who We Are:

We have a clear vision, “Courageous girls, inspiring, leading and shaping Australia’s future.” Role Models and Leaders Australia (RMLA) has established Girls Academies in 43 high schools across WA, NT, NSW and QLD to support and encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls in school. The Girls Academy focuses on increasing attendance, achievement Year 12 completion and successful transition to post-school opportunities for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls. The organisation supports these girls with an intensive face-to-face mentoring and support program delivered through a network of school-based Academies. We are the largest provider of these services in Australia and currently more than 2,800 girls take part in the program each year with this number expected to rise in 2020. RMLA is in an exciting growth phase and now is the time to join our team who are making a difference to the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and their communities!

About the Role:

The Senior Grants Officer will play an integral role in the growth of RMLA. The position will work to secure funding for the organisation by writing major grant proposals and ensuring that relevant grant obligations, including report writing and acquittals are met. This position will lead a grants team of two and work closely with our Chief Business Officer and corporate partnership team. This role will be a full time, maximum term commencing early January 2020 until 31 December 2020 with possibility for contract permanency thereafter.

About You:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated success in securing major grant funding, i.e. grants in excess of $100,000
  • Demonstrated experience in working successfully with sophisticated Grantors and Foundations
  • Demonstrated leadership of a team in the grants and or fundraising space
  • Detailed knowledge of the major grant and philanthropy sector in Australia
  • An existing network in the grants and Foundation space that can be leveraged
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy, including Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Experience using a CRM to manage grant information.
  • Experience turning program and evaluation information and data into compelling and creative proposals that succinctly demonstrate the impact of the organisation’s work.
  • Ability to work autonomously, using independent judgement to produce quality work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including writing proposals and reports for an external audience.
  • Strong organisational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritise multiple deadlines seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
  • Proven success in a similar role raising funds in the Not for Profit sector is desirable.
  • Commitment to discretion and confidentiality concerning sensitive organisational information.

Documents Required:

  • Current Police Clearance (not older than 3 months from the issue date) or willing to obtain
