About us:

The Cape York Aboriginal Australian Academy (CYAAA) is part of Good to Great Schools Australia (GGSA); a not-for-profit in a unique partnership with Education Queensland for 2 primary school campuses at Coen and Hope Vale in Cape York. The Academy aims to close the academic achievement gap between Indigenous and mainstream students and to support Cape York's children bi-cultural identity.

Our Coen and Hope Vale campuses have implemented the Direct Instruction (DI) model developed by Siegfried Englemann and the Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) model developed by John Hollingsworth and Dr Silvia Ybarra.  Both campuses also use the 6C education model; Childhood, Class, Club, Culture, Civics and Community, which include programs rich in local culture, music, art, physical and outdoor education, with a strong attention to student welfare and personal development.

Music holds a significant place in the CYAAA curricular and co-curricular program. We understand the importance of fostering creativity and imagination, and providing opportunities for self-expression.

By being part of Cape York Aboriginal Australian Academy, you'll be helping to fulfil our dream to bring the gift of music to children all around Australia. Furthermore, the ability of music to improve academic results means that you'll also be helping students develop their full potential to excel in academic work.
