  • SCHADS Classification Level 5-6 salary range is $79,362.40 - $90,650.40 per annum (pro-rata) + superannuation, determined by relevant experience and qualifications.
  • This is a fixed-term contract ending 2 October 2020.

GetUp is looking for a Copywriter to work with our campaigns teams to deliver high-quality communications across all GetUp platforms, especially email.

Who is the Campaigns Team

GetUp’s Campaigns Team of talented campaigners lead the organisation’s work running campaigns that help create a more progressive Australia. The team prides itself on deep strategic thinking as well as the ability to seize crucial moments when taking immediate action can make a massive difference. We recognise that affected communities are at the heart of our work and we are always looking for ways to apply a strong rights and social justice lens to our campaigning.

Our days are filled with analysing the political state of play, developing long-term and rapid-fire strategy, engaging with politicians, media and affected communities, spotting the right moment to intervene, running impactful tactics including everything from protests to undercover investigations, writing hard-hitting copy, and coming up with creative ways to give our members the best chance for impact.

The Copywriter will be responsible for:

  • Writing reliably high-quality written content across GetUp communications channels, but especially on email – quickly;
  • Working with campaigns teams to understand their needs and deliver inspiring written content that empowers our members to take action;
  • Develop strategic comms approaches and messaging briefs to ensure a coherent GetUp voice across campaigns and channels;
  • Establishing guidelines and processes that allow campaigns staff to improve their communications output;
  • Proofreading and copy-editing campaigns content to improve the quality of GetUp communications.

You will be someone who has:

  • A deeply held commitment to social justice who is passionate about creating progressive change on a wide range of issues;
  • Outstanding written communication skills with demonstrated flair for copy-writing and editing on a wide range of topics for a range of audiences;
  • Adept at thinking through complex issues and communicating them simply and clearly;
  • Works independently juggling a range of tasks and projects and takes initiative to get the job done;
  • Strong digital skills and a willingness to learn new technologies, and who thrives in a fast-paced start-up environment;
  • Is a team player who is always bringing off-the-wall, creative ideas to the table; and
  • At least two years of professional experience working in a role that requires the delivery of high volumes of written content.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience working in political communications or the media cycle.
