GetUp is looking for digitally-savvy Campaigns Assistants or Campaigners who can start asap, hitting the ground running driving the rapid-fire testing and evaluation of new campaigns.

This is a full time position based in Sydney. SCHADS classification Level 3-4 with salary range $64,009.40 - $75,320.96 per annum (pro-rata) + superannuation determined by relevant experience and qualifications. This is a fixed term contract role ending 2 October 2020.

Who is the Campaigns Team

GetUp is full of talented campaigners who lead the organisation’s efforts to create a more progressive Australia. The campaigns team prides itself on deep strategic thinking as well as the ability to seize crucial change moments that make a massive difference on our issues.

Their days are filled with analysing the political state of play, developing long-term and rapid-fire strategy, engaging with politicians, media and affected communities, spotting the right moment to intervene, running impactful tactics including everything from protests to undercover investigations, writing hard-hitting copy, and coming up with creative ways to give our members the best chance for impact.

As a Campaigner at GetUp, you will be responsible for:

  • Drafting high quality campaign content
  • Administering the website backend
  • Reviewing social media content
  • Reviewing systems for member correspondence
  • Monitoring and suggesting responses to the latest news and developments
  • Executing campaign research, planning and evaluation
  • Working within campaigns teams to execute campaigns and meet their goals
  • Supervising other staff and/or volunteers as required

You will be someone who:

  • Has a deeply held commitment to social justice who is passionate about creating progressive change on a wide range of issues
  • Has strong digital skills and a willingness to learn new technologies, and who thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Has strong communication skills, adept at thinking through complex issues and communicating them simply and clearly
  • Works independently on a range of tasks and projects and takes initiative doing whatever it takes to get the job done
  • Is a team player who is always bringing off-the-wall, creative ideas to the table
  • Has at least two years professional experience

Bonus points for:

  • Experience developing digital ads for testing
  • Experience in GetUp-style online campaigning
  • Experience copywriting in any context
  • Experience working in the media cycle

If even a couple of these criteria speak to you, you could be the perfect person for the job. Formal education, qualifications and extensive experience matter less to us than excellence, initiative and drive.
