The Division also undertakes advocacy on matters relating to the quality and safety of general practice care at both a clinical and practice level, and positions general practice to make a substantial contribution to emerging trends in the Australian healthcare sector.
The Senior Policy Advisor proactively identifies policy related issues that impact or will potentially impact on general practice. They use this information to provide strategic advice and briefings to internal RACGP stakeholders, helping inform the work that we do. This can be achieved through formal channels such as forums and meeting, as well as through less formal conversations and networking activities.
This role is based in our Canberra office of two permanent employees, at the National Press Club of Australia, and liaises closely with the rest of the team and head office based in Melbourne. The ability to work autonomously at times and to be able to build relationships with stakeholders and team members based in different locations is important.
This role will suit a strong relationship builder with experience in health policy. Curiosity, initiative and a keen desire to proactively understand what is going on in Australia’s health system is also key.
