Gateway Community Group Inc. provides supported accommodation to families who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. These families are often experiencing multi-faceted health and wellbeing challenges, contributing to the difficulties of accessing and maintaining housing. Gateway Community Group Inc. is a Specialist Homelessness Service, funded by the Department of Housing, QLD Government. We are seeking an experienced Client Housing Worker or Family Support Worker (Housing) for locum work including covering staff annual leave and extended sick leave.

This Role requires:

• A well-developed understanding of Tenancy Support principles
• Experience using Department of Housing platforms QHIP and SHIP
• Knowledge of using Centrepay and Rent Calculation in Community Housing
• The ability to plan, coordinate and implement case management plans to achieve effective tenant and housing support
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to quickly build rapport and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues, clients and stakeholders
• Well-developed written skills including the use of Microsoft programs

Specific requirements and qualifications are:

• Social Work, Community Services or similar field
• Experience in the Community Housing Sector
• A current National Criminal History Check Certificate
• A current Class C Queensland Driver Licence
• A current Queensland Working with Children Check  

Position Description

• Assist families to enter Gateway accommodation, including tenancy management (producing and signing lease agreement, sign support plan, rent calculation, privacy statements and other documentation) and with their relocation at the end of tenancy. 
• Actively encourage tenants to move into alternative accommodation and assist them with accessing private housing, community housing and or Department of Housing, as appropriate to the tenant’s situation
• Work with families to identify their needs and assist with goal setting, establishing and maintaining support plans specific to the family’s needs 
• Provide information, referral, support and advocacy to tenanted families and community
• Resource families to participate in the local community and establish or broaden their community networks 
• Provide post tenancy follow up, advocacy and support for families
• Review the needs and progress of families in regular staff meetings
• Undertake administrative duties in relation to tenants and their tenancy    
• Maintain data entry and provide statistical reports in Departmental platforms SHIP and QHIP 

Key Selection Criteria (preferably at least three of the following selection criteria)

SC1:

Possess at least 3 years working in Community Housing, or family support roles with experience in case management

SC2:

Experience using Department of Housing platforms QHIP and SHIP

SC3

Demonstrated high level communication skills including the ability to quickly build rapport, engage and support tenants, community service providers and other stakeholders

SC4

Demonstrated case management including the ability to produce well-articulated case notes, reports and related correspondence

SC5

Show a willingness to work cooperatively with colleagues, often with conflicting demands within a semi-autonomous workplace

CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

Hours of Work: Weekdays, as needed, between the hours of 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday.  Commencement Date as soon as possible

Award: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010. Social and Community Services. Level 4

Superannuation: Currently 9.5% in accordance with legislative requirements
