About the role

Key Responsibilities

• Support the achievement of the outcomes and deliverables of the Kimberley Active Communities and Kimberley Sport Art and Culture Projects
• Support the development and maintenance of a Kimberley-wide Sport, Art and Culture plan.
• Liaise with Training & Development manager to coordinate all staff having relevant and timely (within 3 months of commencement) access to Mental Health and Suicide prevention training.
• Represent Garnduwa as directed in collaborations with other stakeholders working in the suicide prevention space
• Attend and support the initiatives of the Kimberley Aboriginal Suicide Prevention Network (KASPN)
• Develop and maintain efficient project data collection and evaluation methodologies
• Utilise the ATSISPEP Evaluation Framework to assist the CAS Manager to evaluate and make continual improvement to the KSAC project
• Support the CAS Manager with the collation of concise, succinct and timely reports in-line with contract and internal deadlines
• Assist in the coordination and delivery of cross regional events occurring within the role's project remit
• Support an increase of female participation in Garnduwa activities through targeted projects/activities

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Diploma in Mental Health, Community Services or equivalent or relevant experience
• A strong understanding and working knowledge of the diverse circumstances and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
• A strong desire to have a positive effect on Indigenous people and communities, and a commitment to supporting and promoting their individual needs
• A deep understanding of the critical need for suicide prevention strategies in the Kimberley region; and a commitment to leading Garnduwa in the development and implementation of such strategies within Garnduwa programs.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and/or training.
• Ability to travel when required
• Strong knowledge of the Service Area and surrounding remote communities
• Strong attention to detail and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office suite skills

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: 

• Holds a 'Working With Children's Check & National Police Check (or ability to attain) 
• "C" Class drivers licence
