Role Description:

The primary purpose of this role is to manage the daily operations of the Outside School Hours Care Program (OSHC) through the provision of high-quality care, supervision of staff, liaison with parent, visitors and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

The Lead Educator will facilitate the delivery of services within the policies and procedures of the organisation, assist with the development of the program in line with the My Time Our Place framework, and facilitate the implementation of the quality improvement plan.

Main Duties:

Coordinates daily activities:

  • Delivery of high-quality childcare.
  • Develop program within the My Time Our Place framework.
  • Prepare and adhere to annual operation plan.
  • Deliver program within budget.
  • Ensure occupancy levels and staff ratios are managed to maximise revenue.
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements is met.

Liaise with and maintain strong working relationships with parents, key stakeholders and GYC management:

  • Develop and maintain positive and effective relationship with parents, stakeholder and GYC staff and management.

Supervise, monitor, and develop staff performance:

  • Supervise staff and ensure completion of tasks.
  • Monitor and evaluate staff performance and undertake annual performance reviews and implement performance management as required.
  • Provide training and support to staff to meet their performance requirements.
  • Support staff to develop their decision making skills.

Program administration:

  • Develop and update policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare monthly reports to the Programs Manager on attendances, progress towards accreditation, staff performance, program delivery and any other agreed performance objectives.
  • Provide feedback to the OSHC Coordinator to assist in the development of the program.

  • Ensure that all team members are practicing within a trauma-informed framework
  • Work in accordance with Gap’s WHS policy, the WHS Act, Regulations and Code of Practices.
  • Ensure reporting of WHS non-conformances or incidents/injuries

Person Requirements (Qualifications & Attributes)

ESSENTIAL

  1. Certificate IV in Children’s Services or other relevant qualification and appropriate experience
  2. Demonstrated ability in the coordination and delivery of a, high quality childcare service
  3. Demonstrated understanding of the My Time Our Place framework, early learning practices, Workplace Health and Safety and childcare regulatory requirements
  4. Ability to develop a program for and manage children with complex trauma and behavioural issues
  5. Ability to lead a team to achieve the highest possible performance
  6. High level of oral and written communication skills
  7. Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads and manage time effectively
  8. Have a current Ochre Card and current Police Clearance
  9. First aid certificate
  10. Drivers License (LR highly desirable)

DESIRABLE

  1. Ability to speak a local Aboriginal language
  2. Experience in an equivalent position
