Djirra supports Aboriginal women's journey to safety and wellbeing and provides legal and practical support to Aboriginal people experiencing family violence. Djirra is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation with a rich history, established over 15 years ago (as the Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention and Legal Service Victoria). It is also a place where culture is shared and celebrated.
The purpose of the position is to identify and analyse issues and practices that informs the sustainability, capacity building strategies and activities of Djirra’s Aboriginal Family Violence Legal Service (AFVLS). The key functions of this position are to coordinate the CLC accreditation review, monitor and report on the quality improvement and risk management plans, and to identify and provide support to managers on leading strategic quality improvement initiatives primarily for AFVLS, and across the organisation.
This work will include the review and development of AFVLS policies, procedures and resources to support quality governance and achieve accreditation and certification under the National Accreditation Scheme (NAS) for Community Legal Centres. The NAS is an industry-based certification process for community legal centres and is administered by the Federation of Community Legal Centres, Victoria (the Federation). The accreditation review is scheduled for April 2021.
The primary focus will be the standards relating to the provision of legal and related services and will require collaboration with AFVLS and other Djirra staff.
Djirra is committed to Child Safety and as part of Djirra's screening requirements all staff must have (or are able to obtain) a Working With Children's Check and a National Police Check. In addition, if you lived in a country other than Australia for 12 months or more in the last ten years then the results of an international police check prior to commencement will be required. You must also demonstrate an understanding of children's safety.
