Djirra supports Aboriginal women's journey to safety and wellbeing and provides legal and practical support to Aboriginal people experiencing family violence. Djirra is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation with a rich history, established 20 years ago (as the Aboriginal Family Violence Prevention and Legal Service Victoria). It is also a place where culture is shared and celebrated.
The Manager, Policy and Advocacy leads the development of innovative solutions, policy and research that ensures policy and advocacy responses, and projects are aligned with Djirra’s strategic priorities.
The role works closely with the Director, Strategy and provides high-level strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team, and has a broad range of stakeholder engagement with government (including Local, State and Commonwealth), the Aboriginal community and various funding agencies.
Djirra is committed to Child Safety and as part of Djirra's screening requirements all staff must have (or are able to obtain) a Working With Children's Check and a National Police Check. In addition, if you lived in a country other than Australia for 12 months or more in the last ten years then the results of an international police check prior to commencement will be required. You must also demonstrate an understanding of children's safety.
