About Future Super

At Future Super, we're changing the way super is done. By giving people a chance to invest their life savings in companies that don’t harm the planet, and instead directing those investments into companies and projects that make the world better, we’re proving to our industry that it can be a force for good.

We’re looking for a Strategy Manager to ladder Future Super towards our long-term ambition, by driving the internal strategy process, running major projects & communicating our strategy, and building our commercial thinking, insights & resources.

We encourage applications from First Nations peoples, people with disability, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, mature age workers and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, etc. (LGBTI+) people. Seriously. The problems we face are complex and the more diversity of experiences we can bring to the table the better our solutions become.

Role background and description

As the Strategy Manager, you’ll help drive all areas of the Strategy Team’s responsibilities and goals, namely to get the internal strategy process humming, to guide the Corporate Strategy ship, and to become a centre of excellence in commercial insights and collateral.

As Future Super continues to scale, you’ll be key in driving strategic moves for the company. As part of a small team and nimble business, you’ll have a lot of scope to shape the role and the areas you focus on.

You’ll be reporting to and working closely with the Head of Strategy, as well as working closely with the Managing Directors and cross-functionally with other Senior Managers and teams across the business.

Start date: Late January/early February 2021 (however we are flexible)

What you’ll be doing

There are three core components of the role:

  • Drive major projects and communicate our strategy

As part of the Strategy team, you’ll help drive the corporate strategy and strategic direction of Future Super. This includes high-level strategic thinking on the long-term direction of the company, running capital management projects (such as capital raises and M&A) and communicating the strategy and important updates both internally and externally (including writing investor updates and updates for the Board).

  • Drive the internal strategy process

You’ll be working closely and cross-functionally across teams to set and monitor the company and functional teams’ objectives and key results. You’ll also be identifying opportunities for, and running, cross-functional projects and sprints, for example running tests to optimise the member experience.

  • Build out our commercial thinking, insights and resources

You’ll have responsibility for analysing internal data (both for reporting and ad-hoc topics) and generating & sharing insights with relevant members of the business, especially for member data. You’ll also be involved in designing frameworks for the company (examples from this year include cross-functional collaboration and acquisition assessment frameworks).

You’ll love this role if:

  • You are keen to leverage your consulting toolkit to add value in a small but fast-growing business
  • You love working across a wide range of topics, are keen to roll your sleeves up, and to have exposure to a more operational role
  • You want a role with impact, both for the company itself and the rest of the world

What we’re looking for

An ambitious current or ex-consultant looking to work in a start-up with a clear ethical mission:

  • Ideally 2-3+ years of experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm (MBB or boutique equivalent)
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic workplace
  • Keen to roll your sleeves up and get stuck into the detail
  • Belief in Future Super’s mission and passionate about moving Australia’s capital out of fossil fuels

You’ll love working here with:

  • A close-knit team that prioritises integrity, self-development and fun at work
  • Heaps of flexibility to fit work into your life (not your life around our work) and the opportunity to work with your manager to define what that looks like for you now and in the future
  • 14 weeks’ paid parental leave for all genders and a generous parental superannuation package, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), formal training and development with continuous improvement opportunities, a continuous supply of healthy office snacks (if/when you’re in the office) and membership to Bicycle NSW as part of our sustainable transport policy
  • Future Super is an equal opportunity employer – we provide flexible working hours, the option to work from home and a laptop you can use to work remotely (this used to be a more differentiating dot-point but is still true)
