About Future Super

At Future Super, we’re making money moves and changing the way super is done. By giving people a chance to invest their life savings in companies that don’t harm the planet, we’re showing the power super has to change the world.

We are looking for someone to join our mission focused fast-growth super fund. The Senior Portfolio Manager for Alternatives plays a key role in delivering outcomes for our members and our planet by leading the portfolio management of alternatives, impact and climate-positive investments. Our members are motivated by our investing in assets that create climate action and reduce inequality. We invest more of our portfolios in high impact and climate action investments than any other super fund.

We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, mature age workers and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, etc. (LGBTI+) people. Seriously, the problems we face are complex and the more diversity of experiences we can bring to the table, the better our solutions become.

You’ll love this job if:

  • You want to see your work make the world a little bit better each day
  • You derive satisfaction from managing Alternatives investments from end to end - drafting the strategy, seeking out investment opportunities, meeting managers, negotiating terms, doing due diligence, writing recommendations, monitoring their performance, and helping our team to communicate about our impact assets
  • You are passionate about the potential of impact investing to fight global warming and inequality
  • You love working with people and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to build great investments
  • You enjoy working in a team of peers that bring their whole selves to work and constantly look to improve, laugh and succeed together

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Believes in Future Super’s mission and has a passion for moving Australia’s money out of fossil-fuels and into renewable energy
  • Has experience and established networks in the ethical investment, impact investing or climate investing space
  • Is proactive in finding investment opportunities, particularly ones that create direct impact for climate action and reducing inequality
  • Is able to apply a portfolio strategy to decisions quickly and reliably, and is comfortable setting expectations with managers
  • Is excited about working in an agile way with a team of portfolio managers and ethical investment analysts, and keen to be a mentor and share your expertise with other team members
  • Collaborates well in a team environment, can manage your own time, and deliver on your priorities

It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience or knowledge about energy pricing and the renewables market

You'll love working here with:

  • A purpose-driven organisation, spending your days working on making this world a better place! The more we grow, the bigger the impact we are making on climate change and inequality
  • A proud B-Corp organisation that cares about what how it behaves inside and out
  • A close-knit and ambitious team that’s focused on using the power of money to make high impact investments and improve company performance on climate and inequality
  • Heaps of flexibility to fit work into your life and the opportunity to define what that looks like for you now and in the future
  • Fun team activities and company-wide events
  • 14 weeks’ paid parental leave for all genders and a generous parental superannuation package. We know juggling both family and work can be a delicate balancing act. We try our best to make sure that work fits into your life, not the other way around.
  • An Employee Assistance Program (EAP), additional leave entitlements, formal training and development with continuous improvement opportunities, a continuous supply of healthy office snacks (if/when you’re in the office) and membership to Bicycle NSW as part of our sustainable transport policy
  • Future Super is an equal opportunity employer – we provide flexible working hours, the option to work from home and a laptop you can use to work remotely (this used to be a more differentiating dot-point, but it’s still true!

The application will require answering short questions so give yourself time to complete it. Once started, you can save and return to your application before submitting.

We use Applied as our de-identified recruitment platform, helping us reduce the risk of unconscious bias in our hiring process.
