About the role 

Councils City Futures Department is looking for a Coastal Policy and Planning Officer who will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to Council and the community in relation to coastal planning and coastal management matters. Your main responsibilities will include: 

  • Providing sound, accurate, timely and expert professional advice and guidance to Council and the community in relation to coastal planning and coastal management matters.
  • To review and implement the Coastal and Marine Management Plan in accordance with the Marine and Coastal Act 2018 
  • To promote an understanding of coastal processes and the impact of climate change on coastal areas

This is a full time role working 38 hours per week.   

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Environmental management/Science/Engineering, natural resource management, Urban planning, Science or related discipline 
  • Experience and skills in the preparation of strategic plans and land use policies to achieve quality outcomes.
  • Practical experience in the supervision of significant coastal assets or a related field such as natural resource management, horticulture, asset management or planning.
  • Demonstrated level of competence in project management and strategic planning within budget, time and quality expectations
  • Working knowledge of local government regulations and procedures
  • A current Victorian Driver Licence

This position is a Band 6 currently remunerated $89,810 and $98,659 per annum plus superannuation.

You will need to provide evidence of your right to work in Australia, certified copies of your qualifications, a current Driver Licence and Working with Children Check. You must also be willing to provide a Pre-Employment Health Declaration and undertake a National Police Record Check.
