Out of Home Care is a part of Foundations Care. Out of Home Care provides a number of Foster Care and Kinship Programs and Child Safety Residential services in WA, NSW and QLD.

About the role:

We are currently seeking a dedicated Youth Worker who will directly support the day to day living of young people, providing quality, safe care and guidance within their living environment and the community. This role will be based at our Lismore location in NSW and is offered on a casual basis.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the young people are safe and that their welfare and well-being needs are met; while working towards planned goals and independence. This role will involve working with young people with a range of developmental, behavioural, and psychological needs.

You will support them through coaching and mentoring to build their life skills and support positive decision making to achieve life and plan goals. You will also support them by actively supporting family, kin and key relationships and engagement; by facilitating and coordinating access to available community supports as required to bring about the achievement of planned support goals.

You will be committed to working collaboratively with members of the team, working proactively with young people, their families/kin, educators and key support partners to contribute to and support the individual's Case Plan.

About you:

To be successful in this role you should:

  • Have completed a relevant Cert IV Qualification
  • Hold a less formal qualification with substantial years of relevant experience (may be considered)
  • Have a high level of drive, life experience or personal commitment to the role and seek to undertake further learning and development to enhance your skills and competency
  • Have an interest in working with young people to achieve plan goals
  • Demonstrate ability to work within legislation, regulations, quality and statutory standards
  • Be able to work collaboratively within a team, under management authority
  • Have well developed organisational skills
  • Have professional integrity and discretion
  • Have a clean driver’s license
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and overnight requirements

You should also be able to demonstrate your knowledge and willingness to work with a team to meet a young person's goals and life experience relevant to:

  • Youth work
  • Foster care and kinship programs
  • Child protection
  • Trauma and attachment
  • Positive behaviour and support
  • Child development
  • Active support
  • Working with Indigenous and culturally diverse families and communities
