About the role:
The Social Worker (Grade 2) is responsible for providing high-level social work services in a custodial care environment. The role will focus on unit-based provision of recovery, advocacy and psychosocial support as well as practicing within the Forensicare Social Work Service.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and hold a Grade 2 clinical Social Worker role.
- Provide expert advice, direct clinical practice, secondary consultation with teams providing custodial psychiatric care.
- Develop and implement social work provision focussing on the needs of individual, families/carers and other groups
- Develop linkages with community-based services, such NDIS, legal representatives, courts and other external stakeholders.
About you:
The successful candidate will have experience in clinical mental health and/or forensic or correctional settings. Works well in a multi-disciplinary team and can undertake social work assessments and interventions aimed at addressing criminogenic, legal and psychosocial needs.
Skills, experience and qualifications
- Approved degree in Social Work, or other qualifications approved for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, and experience in a relevant field.
- Good understanding of/experience in forensic mental health settings and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in social work service development.
- Demonstrated high-level knowledge and skills related to providing social work practice and psychiatric care in custodial settings.
- Ability to develop collaborative recovery goals and undertake clinical risk and criminogenic assessments.
Mandatory qualifications & registrations:
- Approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- This position is subject to a Police Check.
