Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria. This position is located at the Community Forensic Mental Health Service (CFMHS) in Clifton Hill, 15 minutes from Melbourne’s CBD. CFMHS is a specialist state-wide agency that works with individuals who have a serious mental health illness and have offended or are at risk of offending.

About the role:

The Senior Psychologist will provide high level consultation and advice on complex clinical matters within the Problem Behaviour Program, including advice on the management and treatment of patient issues to other clinicians. You will complete specialist psychological and psychometric assessments and reports for external agencies including courts, and contribute to patient risk management plans in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team. As a senior professional representative, you will also provide consultancy and advice to other agencies and key stakeholders.

About you:

You hold a Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology or Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent. You will also have endorsement or eligibility for endorsement by AHPRA in the area of clinical psychology and/or forensic psychology. You have significant experience in providing expertise in a clinical forensic mental health setting, including forensic assessments (i.e., court ordered assessments, assessment of risk for violence) and intervention with offenders. You have excellent communication skills including the ability to liaise and to consult, and to give written and verbal evidence to the courts.

Mandatory qualifications & registrations:

  • Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent, OR Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent.
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA)
  • The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential
