Role:

The role of Director of Youth at WEstjustice is an exciting opportunity for an experienced lawyer seeking the opportunity to address cycles of disadvantage, unmet legal need, recidivism rates, and incarceration of young people. The role directly reports to our Chief Executive Officer and sits within our Senior Management Team. The work includes overseeing our innovative youth law programs, working collaboratively across other WEstjustice and social justice programs, and developing and maintaining our partnerships and relationships with Government and the philanthropic sectors.

Knowledge of policy, law reform and systemic impact work is essential, along with experience working with young people and legal practice in the Children’s Court and Criminal Law.

In particular, the role requires a level of creativity and innovation to ensure that we are improving life outcomes (not just legal results) for our young people through changing, improving (and at times disrupting) the current systems.

The role is a full-time two year contract position (although part-time applicants may be considered). The role may be extended if further funding is available.

A salary range of $95,000 - $110,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus superannuation and generous salary packaging benefits is available (including access to Accommodation and Meal Entertainment packaging).
