- Basis: Part-time, ongoing
- Hours: 20 hours per week, flexible shifts
- Remuneration: $31.36 per hour + Superannuation (Retail Award Level 8, part-time)
- Commitment required: a minimum of 6 months
The Employer
The Food Co-operative Shop is Australia’s oldest food co-operative. It has been our mission to provide food for people, not for profit’ since 1976. We operate a membership owned and run bulk food store, community hub, catering service, events space and popular cafe. We aim to increase access to affordable, ethical and sustainable products, support the production of local produce, and promote environmentally and socially just living.
Role Description - duties include but are not limited to:
- Plan and place stock orders to meet the needs of the shop, kitchen and cafe
- Work with the accountant and bookkeepers to ensure invoices are processed smoothly
- Ensure orders are unpacked and priced correctly
- Build strong working relationships with producers and sellers, especially local producers and be the liaison for existing and potential new producers/sellers
- Uphold high quality standard of food and presentation including supply maintenance and resolving damaged stock
- Uphold the Food Safety and Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures of the Food Co-op
- Plan and adjust finance and pricing
- Develop programs and systems for more efficient, diverse and reliable supply of produce
- Demonstrate a ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to join an engaging, inclusive and strategic work environment
- Help guide volunteers in carrying out various tasks and roles
- Attend monthly board meetings
Selection Criteria
- Understanding of and experience working within a community organisation
- Working knowledge in stock management (both fresh and dry goods), hospitality or retail operations
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively within a diverse team
- Proven skills in planning and prioritising tasks within a demanding and dynamic environment with limited supervision.
